Georgian ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili attending the 2nd Global Open Society Forum in Baku said that Azerbaijan and Central Asia were essential elements of geopolitical strategies, and not only in terms of their energy role, Trend reports.
He clarified that the role of Azerbaijan was especially important for Europe in the light of the Ukraine crisis. Saakashvili noted that the U.S. could provide enough energy carriers but that was not enough. According to the ex-president, Europe was focused on the Caspian Region.
Saakashvili condemned Russia for its territorial claims and emphasized that such actions were unacceptable in the 21st century.
