Galust Saakyan of the ruling Republican Party has been elected by 101 legislators as the speaker of parliament, News Armenia reports.
His competitor Grant Abramyan of the Armenian National Congress got only 3 votes, two of which were later nullified.
The Armenian National Congress (7 members), Dashnaktsutyun (5 members) and the Heritage (4 members) were the three opposition parties that skipped the voting.
