Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin said at the UN Security Council that Kiev was pushing Ukraine towards a catastrophe, ITAR-TASS reports.
He noted that Kiev authorities were obviously refusing to realize the agreements reached in Geneva on April 17. The diplomat added that about 15,000 people, tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, aircraft and Right Sector were sent to restore order in the south-eastern part of Ukraine.
Ukrainian Permanent Representative to the UN Yuri Sergeyev said that Kiev was following the Geneva agreements. He reminded that the counter-terrorism operation had been halted a week after signing of the agreements. The Ukrainian representative noted that the government had initiated a constitutional reform and passed a reform project for local administration for further decentralization.
U.S. Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power confirmed Sergeyev’s statements.
