Iran has banned the WhatsApp application for smartphones today, according to Abdulosman Horammabadi, secretary of the Committee for Illegal Web Content, the application was banned in March but the Ministry for Information ignored the ban.
The reasons for banning WhatsApp have not been named. The official said that Viber and Instagram will not be banned but their fate may be considered in the future.
