UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that he had talked with Syrian Bashar al-Assad many times at the very start of the Syrian crisis, mainly with the help of a special envoy, and the president had not fulfilled any promises. Ban Ki-moon confirmed that Lakhdar Brahimi, special envoy of the UN and the Arab League, will continue his mediation mission in the conflict.
