Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has condemned the country's non-governmental organizations, accusing the government of mass wiretapping. According to the head of the Georgian cabinet, such organizations are sabotaging the state itself.
Vestnik Kavkaza's correspondent in Tbilisi, Georgy Kalatozishvili , believes the prime minister's statement has been a catastrophic mistake. Eduard Shevarnadze was the last Georgian leader to make such statements right before the 2003 Revolution.
According to Kalatozishvili, the prime minister should not have insulted Georgian civil society in such a way at the very beginning of his political career.
