OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier said today that he condemns the ongoing clashes in Ukraine and calls for a "de-escalation of the rhetoric."
"I deeply regret that so many people died. And I condemn it, including what happened in Odessa ... We stand for dialogue," Zannier said, RIA Novosti reported.
According to the OSCE Secretary General, the lack of de-escalation or of any positive development in the region is very disturbing.
"The OSCE is firmly opposed to any form of extremism and fundamentalism. And it's important to say that if we are talking about the need to de-escalate the situation in Ukraine, a de-escalation of the rhetoric is necessary. It is the Ukrainian leadership's responsibility to ensure that there is a balance in the public sphere. And hate speech today only inflames the situation," Zannier said.
