Ukrainian parliament votes against referendum project

The Ukrainian parliament has voted against the All-Ukrainian consultative polls for the referendum, according to lawmaker Alexander Briginets’ message on Facebook.

He said that members of the Freedom Party, UDAR and the Sovereign United Ukraine share his idea. Briginets believes that a referendum was not suitable for the time of war. 154 MPs voted for the project.

If the project were passed, the population would be asked about its attitude towards territorial unity of Ukraine, formation of local councils, status of the Russian and other languages.
