Georgian ex-defense minister accused of money-wasting

Georgian ex-Defense Minister David Kezerashvili has been accused of wasting 5 million euros by signing a contract with his off-shore company Girwood Business Corp., GeorgianPress reports.

The company received the sum, but provided no services. The minister may get 7-11 years of jail. Alexander Ninua, ex-head of the department for state purchases, is accused of being part of the fraud.

Kezerashvili was heading the Georgian Defense Ministry in the summer of 2008.
