A large fight broke out between a group of local residents and Syrian refugees in Ankara on Wednesday night after rumors of a beating began to circulate. An angry crowd threw stones at the three-storey building sheltering the Syrians, the Journal of Turkish Weekly reports.
The incident took place in Ankara’s central district of Altındağ, the news agency informs. Many people were injured due to the fire, which also caused significant material damage, while some locals among the group attacking the building were detained.
