Congressman Christopher Smith said that members of the U.S. Congress are going to attend the presidential elections in Ukraine on May 25 as observers.
"As co-chairs of the Helsinki Commission of the Congress Senator Benjamin Cardin and I will had a delegation at the May 25th elections, we will participate in them as observers," ITAR-TASS quotes Congressman Smith as saying.
The U.S. Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, Victoria Nuland said that preparations for the elections was one of the themes of the May 8th phone conversation between the head of American diplomacy, John Kerry and acting Prime Minister of Ukraine, Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
