According to an official decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the new Ministry of the North Caucasus will implement state policy in the sphere of the socio-economic development of the region and coordinate the implementation of federal programs.
The head of the Duma Committee on Nationalities, Gadzhimet Safaraliev, in an interview with VK explained that the need to establish such a ministry had existed for a long time. "It was determined by the requirements of the development of the North Caucasus. The ministry itself is organized analogously with the agency for Siberia and the Far East, probably this is the new principle of the creation of ministries of regional coordination, the development of various subjects of the federation. The Ministry of the North Caucasus is a condition that will allow a systematic approach to the socio-economic development of the Caucasian republics," Safaraliev said.
