Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting with his deputies that Vice Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin will coordinate inter-ethnic relations, exploitation of the environment, regulation of alcohol products and the work of the Ministry for North Caucasus Affairs.
Khloponin was a vice prime minister and Russian plenipotentiary presidential envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) from January 2010 to May 12, 2014 (when the Ministry for North Caucasus Affairs was formed). Sergey Melokov, ex-commander of the joint group of the Internal Forces of the Interior Ministry in the North Caucasus, represents the Russian president in the region now.
