The Republican Assembly of the People's Republic of Lugansk has written a letter to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon asking the UN to recognize the sovereignty and independence of the region, the website of the Joint Army of the Southeast reports.
Donetsk and Lugansk regions proclaimed themselves independent from Ukraine after referendums had been held in the regions.
