Rinat Akhmetov, a Ukrainian businessman whose main assets are located in the Donetsk Oblast, has encouraged workers to protest against the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic.” He noted that over 50,000 people in Mariupol and millions in Donbass were planning to organize a peace march
The businessman said that he had been informed about machine guns being brought in the morning. He ordered his directors to keep staff away from the marches. Akhmetov pointed out that no official of the Donbass authorities was familiar to the population. He called their actions a suppression and genocide of the local population.
Akhmetov reminded that a railway had been blocked in the morning, freezing the industry of the region.
The businessman announced that a horn will be sounded every day at 12.00pm as a symbol of peace. Akhmetov said that it will be heard every day until the conflict settles.
