Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said at a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev at the CICA summit in Shanghai that Tehran and Astana should intensify cooperation in the Caspian Sea, Iran.ru reports.
Rouhani added that their cooperation should be developed with account of the geographic positions. The Iranian president noted that Iran and Kazakhstan had great prospects for trade-economic development. Moreover, Rouhani sees opportunities for cooperation in security-enforcement, protection of the environment and tourism.
Caspian states have not settled the border problem of the sea after the fall of the USSR.
