The head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gersimov, states that the General Staff doesn’t exclude that the West could hold a military operation against the regime of Bashar Assad in Syria.
According to him, if the regime falls radical Islamists will come to power and the country will turn into a transit point for export of terrorism, extremism, arms and drugs from the Middle East to Europe and other regions of the world, ITAR-TASS reports.
