Yesterday the Foreign Minister of Latvia Edgars Rinkevich met Mevlut Cavusoglu, the Turkish Minister for European Union Affairs, who was on a visit to Latvia. They discussed political relations between the countries and acute topics of Turkish-European relations.
The parties exchanged their views on issues of the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia and agreed on cooperation in the period of Latvia’s chairing of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2015.
Rinkevich expressed his support for Turkey in its efforts to join the EU and stressed that it is important to raise new topics in the talks on Turkey’s accession to the EU.
