The Georgian PM’s Special Envoy for Russia, Zurab Abashidze, said that there were no plans to allow NATO to deploy its missile shield in Georgia, Trend reports.
Spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Lukashevich said that Moscow was concerned about calls by Georgian Defense Minister Irakly Alasania to deploy a NATO missile shield in Georgia. Georgia's Deputy Defense Minister, Mikhail Darchiashvili, said that Georgia had indicated that political support and practical military elements were needed in order to secure regional security.
