Spokesman of the United National Movement of Georgia Georgy Pataraia said that Zurab Chiaberashvili, ex-Minister for Healthcare and member of the ex-ruling party, had been beaten up at a literature café in Tbilisi, Interfax reports.
Film director Georgy Mgeladze and writer’s son Rezo Tabukashvili Jr. were reported involved in the fight.
Chiaberashvili has already served as the Kakheti governor, Tbilisi mayor, ambassador to the Council of Europe. After formation of the new government, Chiaberashvili was detained over wasteful spending of budget funds. He was released on bail.
