Ukraine's President-elect Petro Poroshenko has called for activation of the anti-terrorist operation in Eastern regions of the country. According to Poroshenko, the operation should last for several hours rather than for several months.
The country's First Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Yaryoma reacted by saying that the operation has resumed. The official stresses as well that the operation targets terrorists and not local civillians.
According to Ukrainian expert Sergey Slobodchuk, Poroshenko is following ousted president Viktor Yanukovych, who refused to hold talks with pro-EU protesters in Kyiv and launched a violent operation against opposition activists.
Now Poroshenko is doing the same, the expert believes, explaining that the president-elect rules out any possibility of talks with the rebels and wants to continue the military operation against them.
