Abkhaz President Alexander Ankvab said today that the government was doing all it could to restore order in the country, RIA Novosti reports.
The opposition organized a meeting and took over the administration yesterday. Activists said that they had taken control of the country into their hands. According to Ankvab, negotiations were organized with the Coordinating Council of the opposition to discuss normalization of the situation. The opposition refused to have closed-door talks and occupied the administration.
Ankvab characterized the developments as a coup attempt.
