Nikolai Litvin, the head of the Ukrainian Border Service, said that security on the eastern border will be enforced soon, Interfax reports.
He emphasized that there were no plans to close the border. The official noted that the Ukrainian-Russian border was being blocked by the military.
Litvin proposes construction of defensive structures on the Ukrainian-Russian border, especially in the Luhansk and the Donetsk oblasts. He recommended formation of a special unit to block the state border.
