Alexey Pushkov, the head of the Russian Duma Committee for International Affairs, said that the signing of the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty brought Eurasian integration to a new level, RIA Novosti reports.
In his words, the signing of the treaty was a confirmation of success of the integration processes of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus and proof that foreign attempts to subjugate Russia economically and politically had failed. Pushkov predicts that other countries would want to join and urged them to hurry up.
The Russian lawmaker reminded that Europe had spent over 40 years integrating to form the European Union. The Eurasian Economic Union needed less time, according to Pushkov.
