The Russian Energy Ministry has confirmed receiving $786.366 million from Naftogaz for gas bought in February and March, RIA Novosti reports.
Ukrainian Minister for Energy Yuri Prodan said on Friday that gas bills had been covered for Q1, according to the price of $286.5 per thousand cubic meters.
In mid-December 2013, Russia gave Ukraine a gas discount of 30%. On March 4, 2014, Gazprom head Alexey Miller said at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev that the company would cancel the discount in April 2014 for Ukraine’s alleged refusal to comply with the terms set in December.
