Iran has launched the Ghadir radar system in Garmsar. The facility has a range of 1,100km horizontally and up to 300km vertically. Brigadier-General Farzad Esmaili, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Base, took part in the opening ceremony.
The system was first tested at the Great Prophet-6 drills of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution in June 2011. The radar can detect cruise and ballistic missiles and low-orbit satellites.
