NATO member countries have not yet reached a compromise on granting Georgia the Membership Action Plan at a NATO summit in September, but it is possible that an interim plan for enhanced cooperation will be introduce, a diplomatic source in NATO said.
It is possible that a spacial plan to strengthen political dialogue and closer cooperation between Georgia and NATO will be developed in case not all members of NATO agree on granting Georgia the Membership Action Plan.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said he had hoped that the alliance would reach consensus on further steps towards rapprochement with Georgia as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia by the end of June.
