Russia and Azerbaijan to establish joint investment fund

Russian Minister of Economy Alexey Ulyukayev and his Azerbaijani counterpart Shakhin Mustafayev held bilateral talks in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku today. According to the Russian minister, the parties agreed to establish a joint investment fund.

 

The Russian official also said that the fund was going to be launched by Russia's Direct Investment Fund and the Azerbaijani Investment Company public corporation, ABC.az reports on Tuesday.

 

According to Minister Ulukayev, it is essential to invest in such spheres as agriculture, the food-producing industry, logistics and transport, the news agency informs.

 

Professor Fikret Sadykhov of the Western University believes that establishing the joint fund will be mutually beneficial. According to the expert, the initiative will lead to an increase in trade turnover and the development of new joint projects.
