Israeli FM calls for cooperaton with Arab states

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has called on Arab countries to cooperate with Israel openly, Vestnik Kavkaza's correspondent in Israel Pyotr Lyukimson reports.

"The times of secret diplomacy have passed. The best diplomacy is an open one. We would like to tell moderate Arab powers: you are losing to the extremists, so let us cooperate, let us work together," Lieberman says.

"We are facing common challenges such as the Iranian nuclear programme, the civil war in Syria and the struggle against Islamist terrorism. The Arab World should overcome its psychological block and understand that open cooperate with Israel would be mutually beneficial," the Israeli foreign minister said.

According to Pyotr Lyukimson, Lieberman's statement is based on the official position of the Foreign Ministry rather than his personal views. The experts of the ministry believe that a possible Israeli-Arab alliance could be extremely influential in a changing world, in which the positions of the US and the EU are weakening rapidly.
