U.S. and Ukrainian Presidents Barack Obama and Petro Poroshenko have had their first bilateral meeting today. They discussed the Ukraine crisis and plans to reduce energy dependence on Russian gas, Lenta.ru reports.
The U.S. president promised to supply Ukraine with bullet-proof vests, night vision equipment and communication systems for $5 million. Obama urged the world society to support Poroshenko and help train Ukrainian law enforcers.
The presidents met in Warsaw. It has become the first visit of Poroshenko to Poland as the president of Ukraine. He plans to meet Presidents Francois Hollande (France) and Sauli Niinisto (Finland) today. He met Polish President Bronislaw Komorovski yesterday.
