Sergey Naryshkin, the chairman of the Russian State Duma, said at a meeting in Moscow with Ogtay Asadov, the speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, that Russia was interested in expanding and strengthening strategic partnership with Azerbaijan, RIA Novosti reports.
In his words, inter-parliamentary cooperation was part of the greater political dialogue between Russia and Azerbaijan. Asadov emphasized that Azerbaijan paid special attention to bilateral ties with Russia. He noted that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin were planning to visit Azerbaijan in June.
