Russia is doing its best to enhance mutual cooperation with its neighbours, presidential aide Sergey Glaziyev says. According to the official, that is why he is going to pay a visit to Azerbaijan along with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
The official also notes that Azerbaijan is Russia's key partner in the region.
"Azerbaijan is our most important partner in the Caucasus. The country is crucial for maintaining political and economic stability in the region. That is why we are interested in successful cooperation with Azerbaijan," he says.
According to Glaziyev, Russia would like Azerbaijan to join the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union.
