Ukraine to close Russian border

The Ukrainian authorities are soon going to close the Ukrainian-Russian border completely, advisor to the country's interior minister Anton Gerashchenko says. According to the official, it is not enough to close the сheck-points, as the militants cross the border in other places as well.

"We have to take all necessary measures. Of course we are going to close the border immediately. We are now preparing for such a move," Gerashchenko said.

The official underlined that no minefields were going to be laid, as this would pose a threat to the local population.

However the editor-in-chief of National Defense magazine, Igor Korotchenko, believes that the Ukrainian authorities have no actual resources to close the border. "The authorities in Kyiv have neither the human nor the technical resources necessary to fully close the border," he said
