The prime minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili and the president of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso opened the International investment conference Georgia-European Union in Tbilisi today.In their presentations they spoke about the importance of the signing of the Association Agreement between the EU and Georgia on June 27."This is the first time an event on a similar scale (conference) has been held in Georgia. European integration is the main priority of our country. We are moving to a new stage of relations with the EU," News Georgia quotes the Georgian prime minister.Garibashvili also added that the association of Georgia with Europe will allow the country to increase its gross domestic product by 4.3%.Barroso also pointed to those benefits which are promised to the republic by the association agreement. "It is important from the economic and political points of view and it is a serious incentive for Georgia from the point of view of carrying out reforms … The problem of our partnership is satisfaction of your ambitions (on European integration).We expect continuation of the process of improving democratization of the country," he said.
