Western powers are ready to lift the sanctions imposed on Iran, President of Islamic Republic Hassan Rouhani says. According to Rouhani, the preliminary agreement was reached during Iran's talks with the 5+1 group this week.
The final document will allow Iran to enrich uranium on its territory, Rouhan says.
Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Sazhin says that there may be no doubts about the sincere character of Rouhani's remarks. However one should understand that the sanctions cannot be lifted immediately. This process will take some time, he says.
"The IAEA has no complaints against Iran. The US is fulfilling its obligations and unfreezes $400-500 million per month. Even though the sanctions have not been lifted yet, they are now much less harsh," the expert says.
