Protesters gathered on Kyiv's independence Square or Maidan Nezalezhnosti are demanding the resignations of several top officials, including the head of the Border Guards Mykola Litvin, Minister of Defense Mykhailo Koval, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Acting Prosecutor General Oleg Makhnitsky and acting head of the Ukrainian Security Service Valentin Nalivaychenko.
Activists also call for investigation into these officials' activities.
In addition to those, the protesters are also demanding early parliamentary elections. According to them, the Ukrainian Parliament (Verkhovna Rada) which was elected before the 2014 Revolution no longer represents the will of the Ukrainian people.
The idea of early parliamentary elections has already been voiced by newly-elected President Petro Poroshenko. However, according to the 2004 Constitution of Ukraine restored by lawmakers after the Revolution, the president has no power to dismiss parliament except in the cases where lawmakers fail to form a cabinet or do not attend house meetings.
