Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says that the peace plan suggested recently by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko violates the April 17th Geneva communiqué, as there is now provision concerning direct talks between the rebels and the Ukrainian authorities.
"The main provision concerning talks is not included in this plan. This is a severe violation of the April 17th Geneva communiqué, which was signed by our western partners and Ukrainian officials," the Russian minister said.
The minister also stressed that Russia is deeply concerned about the situation in Eastern Ukraine as the crisis has started to affect neighbouring Russian regions.
"The territory of Russia has already been violated. There has been some damage and even victims," he said.
