Ukrainian president to give more powers to regions

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says he is ready to give more powers to the country's regions and secure the official status of the Russian language, ITAR-TASS reports.

According to Poroshenko, constitutional amendments, which would increase the powers of local communities, may be adopted in September. Such communities would be free to carry out their own cultural policy and officially use both the Russian and Ukrainian languages.
