Abkhaz CEC starts registration of presidential candidates

The central electoral commission (CEC) of the semi-recognized republic of Abkhazia today started registration of groupings and parties to participate in the presidential elections. Early polls were announced after President Alexander Ankvab resigned from office in response to a mass protest campaign launched by the opposition.

The registration is set to end on July 14th.
