Abkhaz ex-Vice Prime Minister Beslan Eshba has been promoted for the presidential campaign. The Abkhaz CEC registered the initiative group promoting General Mirab Kishmaria for president on June 25, ITAR-TASS reports.
Groups and parties will be registered from June 25 to July 14.
President Alexander Ankvab resigned on June 1 as a concession to the opposition. Early presidential polls will be held on August 24.
Candidates for president need initiative groups consisting of at least 10 people. They are registered at the CEC. A candidate needs at least 2,000 and no more than 2,500 signatures of voters to run for president.
