Georgian film director Chkheidze discusses interethnic problems

Rezo Chkheidze, a Georgian film director, actor and playwright, has arrived in Moscow to mark the 50th anniversary of the film “Father of a Soldier”. Vestnik Kavkaza interviewed the director about interethnic problems of the Caucasus. In his words, people should avoid any interethnic differences and search for solutions together.

Vestnik Kavkaza reminded Chkheidze that the collapse of the Soviet Union had started in the Caucasus. It also noted that a million Azerbaijanis had been driven out of their lands in Nagorno-Karabakh about 25 years ago.

The film director said that people should see whether their actions would benefit their nation. According to Chkheidze, a lot has changed lately and there is hope that governments will resolve the problem.
