Russian Ambassador to Afghanistan Andrey Avetisyan said that the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan this year was hasty, ITAR-TASS reports.
He noted that the progress of Afghan national law enforcement had been achieved with the assistance of ISAF to a large extent. The diplomat doubts that the Afghan government can maintain the 350,000 law enforcers at its disposal. He added that all aviation support had been provided by ISAF.
Avetisyan believes that the year 2014 was picked for withdrawal taking into account the situation in the U.S., and has nothing to do with the real processes in Afghanistan. The ambassador added that the year 2014 did not differ from any other year for Afghanistan.
