Russia would like the European Union to be a self-sufficient political body, rather than automatically following the US line, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is quoted as saying. The minister also underlines that Russia is interested in successful relations with the EU.
"I must say that we are interested in the EU's good relations with both Russia and the US, but we would like the EU to be self-sufficient," Minister Lavrov is quoted as saying.
