CSTO opens international peacekeeping forum in Yerevan

 

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has greeted attendees of a CSTO forum entitled “Integration of national and regional peacekeeping potentials in the global system of peace operations basing on UN principles and standards” in Yerevan. He reaffirmed the importance of CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha’s idea proposal made in June 2013 to organize extended annual international forums, News Armenia reports.Sargsyan noted support of preventive diplomacy. He called peacekeeping a priority of the CSTO in strengthening international and regional security. The Armenian president reminded that peace operations of international organizations were playing an important role in preventing escalation of conflicts.
