Iran not planning to send troops to Iraq

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in Moscow that Iran had received no requests from Baghdad to send military support. The diplomat added that troops would only be sent on request and according to international law and bilateral agreements, Trend reports.

Abdollahian blames the U.S. for the actions of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Iraq. He expressed support for the idea of a Kurdish autonomy in Iraq to organize a referendum to gain independence.
