President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso said that the EU was showing understanding of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s decision to end the truce. The EU official encouraged the sides of conflict to end violence.Barroso noted that the Ukrainian government had the right to protect territorial integrity and sovereignty. In his words, Russia should make use of its influence of “federalization” activists. Barroso added that the EU was expecting Moscow to demonstrate commitment to reducing tensions in the south-eastern part of Ukraine.
