Kazakh financial police detains head of monopoly agency

 

Murat Ospanov, the head of the Agency for Regulation of Natural Monopolies, was detained receiving a bribe of $200,000 yesterday, Tengrinews.kz reports.A criminal case was initiated. According to the police, the official received the bribe for support of a monopoly subject.Ospanov was the deputy head of the Pavlodar Oblast and head of its administrative office. In January 2008 – September 2010, he served as the deputy head of the Agency. He became the head of the Agency’s office in the East Kazakhstan Oblast, head of the Department for State Purchases of the oblast. Ospanov became the head of the Agency in January 2012.
