Iran and Group of Six start plenary session in Vienna

Iran and the Group of Six have started the first plenary session within the framework of their new round of talks at the UN office in Vienna today, according to European Chief Diplomat Catherine Ashton’s spokesman Michael Mann, RIA Novosti reports.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met Ashton yesterday. Ashton, Zarif and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns had trilateral talks on Wednesday.

The round of talks should continue until July 20. Iran needs to give guarantees of peaceful nuclear developments if it wants an easing of sanctions. The previous round ended in Vienna on June 20.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that the document developed in the previous round had not undergone any changes. The sixth round of talks should improve it.
