Colonel-General Valery Geletey has been appointed as the Ukrainian defense minister today. He needed at least 226 votes at the parliament and got 260, RIA Novosti reports.Geletey has replaced Acting Defense Minister Mikhail Koval.Ukrainian Acting President Alexander Turchynov appointed Geletey as the head of the state security department in March. Geletey was heading the department in 2007-2009. He challenged Nestor Shufrich of the Party of Regions in 2008.
