Obama approves of operation in Ukraine’s east

U.S. President Barack Obama expressed approval of the military operation in the eastern part of Ukraine in a conversation with his French counterpart Francois Hollande, RIA Novosti reports.

Obama reminded that the resistance in the east had refused to negotiate with the Kiev authorities. He urged Russia to help implement the ceasefire plan, stop gathering forces at the border and supporting the separatists. The two presidents accused Moscow of supporting the resistance in Ukraine.

The U.S. and the French presidents decided to coordinate their efforts and punish Russia if it refuses to de-escalate the conflict
